Laurens Academy took on Spartanburg Day School in search of basketball upsets, but it wasn’t to be on Friday night.

The Griffins took the girls’ game 38-23 and the boys’ game 42-22.

Carly Garrity and Maddie Becker each scored 13 points to lead Spartanburg Day. The Griffins didn’t shoot better – 16-60, .267 – but they took advantage of 11 more shots. The Crusaders shot 12-49 (.245). The two teams combine to connect on 6 of 13 free throws.

Payton Breen led Laurens Academy with 10 points. Olivia Huck and Rylee Ballard each added 6, Emily Suttles score 4 and Elissa Hucks chipped in 2.
