CHESNEE – Laurens Academy’s basketball teams had public meetings with Chesnee from the High School League’s Class 2A Monday night, and it didn’t go well for the Crusaders.

The Eagles won the boys’ game 59-21 and the girls’ 59-17. The Crusaders will return to independent (SCISA) play in a tournament at Newberry Academy at the end of the week.

Brady Poole led the Eagles with 14 points in the boys’ game. K.J. Valentine added 10. Eight players scored for Chesnee (4-1), which hit 24-54 field-goal tries and all 5 free throws.

For Laurens Academy (3-5), Diamonte Grant led the way with 10 points, Clarence Bertoli added 7 and Andrew Codington chipped in 4.

Kymiah Blair led the Chesnee girls (5-2) with 18 points. Maya Evans added 12 and Shyvian Bishop 11.

The Eagles hit 12 of 15 foul shots.

Payton Breen led LA (4-4) with 8 points, Olivia Huck scored 3 and S.G. Natiello and Maddie Low eached chipped in 2.
