Covenant College has won only one women’s basketball game this year, but Laurens Academy’s Ruthie Moore has played a vital role for the Scots.
Moore, who helped lead the Crusaders to a pair of state championships, leads the Lookout Mountain, Ga., school’s team in assists with 30.
In the lone victory, 70-51 over Bob Jones on Jan. 9, Moore had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
She has started all 8 games and is averaging 7.1 points and 7.1 rebounds. Her best scoring performances were both against Birmingham-Southern, 16 points in one game and 11 in the other.
Moore is a 5-7 sophomore guard majoring in psychology. Her four brothers have all either graduated or are attending Covenant, which is located in Georgia on the famed mountain overlooking Chattanooga, Tenn.
