There’s nothing much to see here. On Clinton’ High School’s fall football schedule, the names haven’t changed, only the dates and places.

But fans have calendars to mark, whether on a wall, a desk or in an an electronic date.,

The Red Devils, 13-1 last year, open with Batesburg-Leesville and Laurens on the road, then play at home for the next three weeks versus, Newberry, Aiken and Chapman.

The home Region 4-3A opponents are Union County and Chester. The non-region games pit the Red Devils against Laurens, Aiken and South Aiken from Class 4A, Batesburg-Leesville and Newberry from 2A and Chapman from 3A.

Clinton honored its girls basketball program on Saturday night at the 11th annual Coach Bobby Brock Legacy Group banquet at the high school’s auditorium.

Among the speakers were the girls program’s former coaches: Ann Parks, Connie Hodges and Chris Wofford, as well as current mentor John Gardner.

Ceremonies were also held on Friday night at the home basketball games won by both Red Devils teams versus Chester.

Laurens Academy presented rings to its state championship volleyball team on Friday in 11:30 ceremonies at the school gymnasium.

The Crusaders won the SCISA Class A title by defeating Cambridge Academy of Greenwood, 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-21) at Erskine College on Oct. 24, 2022.

In Starkville, Miss., Mississippi State defeated Presbyterian, 7-0, in men’s tennis.

Presbyterian travels to Georgia to play Kennesaw State this Thursday, February 9 at 2 p.m.
