Brett Young had 3 of Laurens Academy’s 6 hits, but it was far from enough as Richard Winn defeated the Crusaders, 11-3, on Tuesday.

The visiting Eagles broke open the game with 3 runs in the fourth and 5 in the seventh.

Zack Taylor singled in 2 runs in the first inning, and Austin Lancaster doubled in 2 in the fourth.

Dru Caldwell was the winning pitcher, allowing a hit for each of his 6 innings on the mound. Caldwell struck out 11 and surrendered no walks.

Cal Robertson took the loss, allowing 2 runs in 2 innings. Jordan Hudson tossed 5 innings.

Thomas Lowry collected 2 hits and drove in 2 for LA.

Jacob Chaisson went 4-for-5 for the Eagles. Six of Winn’s 14 hits were doubles. Both teams committed 4 errors.

Richard Winn won the middle-school game by a score of 8-0.

Oakbrook Prep visits the LA varsity on Thursday at 6 p.m.
