In the lovely twilight, two doubles teams, one from Clinton and the other from Chapman, settled the Region 3-3A title Tuesday, and once again, the score of the match was 4-3, and once again, the Inman school came out on top.

The Panthers’ No. 1 doubles team of Alex Kinlaw and Elizabeth Williams defeated the Red Devils’ Dailey sister, Mary Catherine and Chandler, in straight sets. Kinlaw, who did not play in the first match between the teams, played a pivotal role in the match, winning with Williams in doubles and winning her No. 3 singles match, 6-3, 6-0.

Chapman, which had defeated Clinton in the Upstate finals in 2019 while the two were in separate regions, could well meet the Red Devils again.

Earlier this season, Chapman got three of its four points in matches settled by tie-breakers. This time three matches required extra play, and the Panthers won two of them.

Clinton (8-2) opens the playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and the road against the Region 2 champions.
