FLORENCE – Clinton High School’s Mary Catherine Dailey distinguished herself in the tennis state singles tournament at Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center last weekend.

Most notably, Dailey, who played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Red Devils’ Upstate runner-up team, won the Sportsmanship Award for classes A, 2A and 3A. She also competed in five matches, winning three, representing Clinton and Region 3-3A.

Dailey won her opening match, 6-0, 6-1, over Seneca’s Deena Hassan before falling to Waccamaw’s Ansley-Aimee Flowers. She then defeated Gabriela Martin, also of Waccamaw, 8-1, and Belton-Honea Path’s Lauren Harrison by the same score before being eliminated, 8-6, by Chapman’s Westlyn Morris.

She was named all-state by the S.C. High School League.
