Clinton rolled on in the Class 3A tennis playoffs on Tuesday, roaring past Seneca 6-0 at the Clinton Middle courts.

The victory advances the Red Devils (11-2) into a 3rd-round matchup on Thursday at Belton-Honea Path scheduled, weather permitting, for 5 p.m.

Singles – Mary Catherine Dailey defeated Deena Hassan 6 – 0, 6 – 1. Chandler Dailey defeated Ava Alexander 6 – 0, 6 – 0. Gracie Spangler defeated Hannah Tensley 6 – 0, 6 – 0. Reese Gowan defeated Liz Bravo 6 – 1, 6 – 0. Kimora Wesley defeated Jessica Zenteno 6 – 0, 6 – 0.

Doubles – M.C Dailey-C. Dailey did not play. Gracie Wiggins-Libby Dailey defeated Alice Story-Ella Dong 6 – 1, 6 – 2.

Three girls’ basketball players at Clinton High have been named to the preseason All-Region 3-3A team.

They are junior Taneal Evans and seniors Tinique Austin and Payton Price-Walker.

Last year Austin averaged 14 rebounds and 9.2 points. Evans averaged 6.6 points, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals. Price-Walker averaged 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

Clinton is picked 2nd in the region behind Emerald and ahead of, in order, Chapman, Woodruff, Union County and Broome.

Laurens Academy won its 1st 4 matches in the SCISA volleyball tournament over the weekend in Myrtle Beach before being eliminated in consecutive losses (2-0, 2-1) to Wardlaw, which in turn fell in the finals to Newberry Academy, 3-1.

LA’s victories were over Charleston Collegiate, St. John’s Christian, Cambridge and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

A.C. Flora ousted Laurens from the Class 4A tennis playoffs with a 7-0 victory on the Falcons’ home courts.
