EASLEY – A change of venue didn’t help Easley a bit in the first round of the American Legion baseball playoffs on Tuesday night.

Greenwood Post 20 mauled Easley, a region member, for the fourth time with a 12-2 victory and a series sweep.

The Braves defeated Easley easily in all meetings, winning by scores of 11-1, 14-0, 11-1 and 12-2.

The three former Laurens High players – Aidan Pridgen, Zach Faulkner and Zak Rice – all played major roles Post 20’s 9-run sixth inning. Rice and Faulkner doubled and Pridgen singled.

Easley did, however, score first. Greenwood (12-4) never took the lead until the third when Rice belted a 2-run homer. He led the Braves with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, driving in 3. Thomas Beauford also homered for Post 20.

Garrett Hodges was the winning pitcher, yielded a pair of hits and runs in 5 innings, fanning 10. The losing pitcher was Nick Miller, who allowed the first 5 Greenwood runs.

Jacob Peake and Trevor Merek collected the Easley safeties.

Greenwood opens the second-round series at Legion Field on Monday against Greer, which swept Chesterfield.
