GREENWOOD – Incredibly, baseball was played at Legion Field on Monday night.

Post 20 absorbed its first setback of the American Legion baseball playoffs as Greer Post 115 rallied in the seventh inning to down the Braves 4-2.

The two teams face each other on Tuesday in Greer, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.

With the scored tied, John Nick Hench, who drew a walk, wound up scoring the winning run, ending Greenwood’s win streak at nine. The inning began with Greenwood (12-5) leading 2-1.

The Braves had only 3 hits, 1 apiece by ex-Raider Aidan Pridgen, Graham Peeler and Patrick Wood. All 3 hits went for extra bases: doubles by Pridgen and Wood and a triple by Peeler, who drove in both runs.

Brody Fowler went the distance for Greer, allowing 2 runs off 3 hits, walking only 1 and striking out 11.

Leadoff man Brock Myers led Greer with 3 singles in 4 at-bats.

Garrett Hodge pitched the first 4 innings for the Braves – 6 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts – and left with a 2-1 edge. Only 1 of the 3 runs allowed by losing pitcher Wood was earned.
