On Saturday night at Laurens Speedway, Tinker Roberts claimed his third Thunder Bomber feature of the season. Dylan Chappell gave Roberts a run for the money after Roberts started out front. Michael Owensby finished third.
The 602 Crate class was even closer as Colt Smith edged Colby Cannon by .109 of second. Once Cannon pulled clear of a duel with Rod Tucker, he ran down Smith but fell just short at the finish after a torrid last-lap rally.
Larry Teal was a first-time 2020 winner in the 4-Cylinder division, outpacing runner-up Wayne Summers and Phillip Wilson.
A victory in Front-Wheel Drive was worth a $1,000 check for Travis Jamieson, who won for the fourth time in five tries. He dominated, with several contenders falling by the wayside. Justin Harris wound up second and Jake Barnett third.
Larry Timms was fastest in qualifying and afterwards in Limited Late Model. Timms pulled away as Deano Long and Taylor Puckett battled fiercely for second. Long faded and Puckett spun, enabling Frank Coates to advance to second place and Tony Quarles to third.
NOTE: An earlier version of this story listed incorrectly that the annual Shrine Race is to be run on Tuesday night, as listed on the speedway's website. The race has been moved to September.
