Anna Gray Rowland and Bryson Cruickshanks each shot 51 for Laurens, followed by Lane McCracken with 68 and Julia Kennedy with 71.
Laurens opened its season on Sept. 3, finishing third in Simpsonville to Hillcrest and Wade Hampton. The Raiders shot 242 collectively in that one, led by Rowland with a 53, Cruickshanks a 60, McCracken 63 and Kennedy 66.
Clinton rolled to another Region 3-3A girls’ tennis victory, this time over Emerald, 6-0, and focused on the first of two matchups against Chapman, which eliminated the Red Devils from the state playoffs a year ago.
As a team, Clinton (3-0, 3-0) won 72 of the 74 games contested with the Vikings.

The Red Devils will visit Chapman in Inman on Monday. The match, originally scheduled for Sept. 8, is set to begin at 5 p.m.
Laurens blanked the Greenwood Eagles on their home Gatewood courts.
Said coach Lynne Todd of the Raiders’ 7-0 win: “Greenwood High is always a tough team to compete against. Our girls have been working very hard at practice and taking lessons from local instructors when they are not at practice. The girls have a competitive fire in them along with a positive attitude that they can win no matter who they are up against. This is exactly what it takes to win.”

Doubles: Kelsie Little-Bella Youseff defeated Sylvia Beardsley-Emily Clinemyer 6-0, 6-0. Casey Partee-Skylar Douglas defeated Emily Nelson-Olivia Garrison 6-0, 6-0.
Consolation match: Sarah Katherine Starling defeated Lily Nabors 6-1.
Greenville took three out of four games to drop Laurens to its first Region 2-4A volleyball loss. The Red Raiders won 19-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-22.
In a losing cause, Aubrey Wardell recorded 8 digs and 4 aces. Callie Wzorek had 3 kills, 4 aces and 11 digs. Kamryn George had 7 kills.
The Red Raiders’ junior varsity also prevailed with a straight-game, 25-13, 25-12 victory over LDHS, whose standouts were Za’Khia Davenport (13 digs), Anna Nance (2 aces, 3 digs) and Finley Partee (3 kills, 3 digs).
Cambridge Academy spoiled Laurens Academy’s middle-school football opener, defeating the Crusaders, 28-8, on LA’s home field Thursday.
Elizabeth and William Reid of Clinton were named Class 3A Runners of the Week by SCRunners.com, a first-ever recognition of Red Devil runners, according to coach Lee Atkinson.
