Six Clinton High football standouts earned places on the all-region team of 35.

Rated among the best in Region 3-3A were Peyton Pitts in the offensive line, Marcus Chalmers in the defensive line, Bryson James at linebacker and defensive backs C.K. Vance and Justin Copeland. Jykorie Gary was designated as one of six named to the team as “athletes.”

Region champion Chapman took the titles for Defensive Player of the Year (Andrew Colasurdo) and Coach of the Year (Harry Cabaniss). The Offensive Player of the Year was Union County’s Ke’Avis Savage.

Chapman placed 9 on the team, followed by Clinton and Union County with 6 each, Broome and Woodruff with 5 apiece, and Emerald with 4.


The Laurens boy’s basketball team exerted little Impact on the Spartanburg Christian Academy tournament of that name.

Irmo routed the Raiders, 76-25, on Wednesday. Laurens (0-3) fell in earlier games against Seneca and Boiling Springs.

The Yellow Jackets took a 15-8 lead after a quarter and 23-10 at halftime.

Waldrick Burnside led LDHS with 10 points. Chase Jackson added 6; Josh Cureton, Collin Gambrell and Isaiah Burnside each chipped in 2.
