Hercules, much like its namesake in Roman mythology, is strong with the Big South Conference.

Hercules Tires, wholly owned subsidiary of American Tire Distributors, extended its partnership of the Big South men’s and women’s basketball championships through 2023. The tournaments are to be held in Charlotte, N.C.

The 2022 Hercules Tires Big South Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be played at historic Bojangles’ Coliseum for the first time, and the facility marks the league’s 1st neutral site for its marquee basketball events since 2003 and just the 5th time in the conference’s 38-year history.

The multi-year extension marks one of the largest sponsorships in Big South history. In addition to the title sponsorship, Hercules Tires will continue to have an integrated marketing presence, allowing the brand to have ongoing connections with Big South alumni, fans, students, and employees at all conference championship events.  Hercules Tires will also return as the title sponsor of the annual Big South Basketball Campus Tour.

“Hercules Tires has been a wonderful partner for the Big South Conference and we are thrilled that they are back as the title sponsor of our basketball championships,” added Big South Commissioner Kyle Kallander. “Tipping off for the 1st time in Charlotte in March, the Hercules Tires Big South Conference Basketball Championships will be an outstanding experience for our student-athletes and fans, largely due to Hercules Tires support.”

The tournament’s tournaments are scheduled for March 1-6, and will feature four games a day leading up to championship on Sunday, March 6. The women’s tournament will begin Tuesday, March 1 with 1st-round games, while the men’s event begins Wednesday, March 2. The women’s quarterfinals are Thursday, March 3, followed by the men’s quarterfinals on Friday, March 4.  Each championship semifinal round will be Saturday, March 5, with both championship contests set for Sunday, March 6. The official 2022 Hercules Tires Big South Basketball Championship brackets, as well as ticket information, will be released at a later date.
