Three members of the Presbyterian College volleyball team earned recognition from the Big South Conference.

Junior Erin Cooke was selected to the All-Big South second team, freshman libero Anna Hewitt was named to the all-freshman Team and junior outside hitter Trinity Williams earned a spot on the all-academic team.

Cooke was selected second team for the second consecutive season. The Davidson, N.C., native led Presbyterian and ranked fourth in the league in kills with 166.

A two-time freshman-of-the-week honoree this spring, Hewitt became the third Blue Hose in the last four seasons to earn a spot on the all-freshman team. A native of Alvaton, Ky., Hewitt led the Big South in digs with 296, and finished second in the league in digs/set at 4.7.

Williams was selected all-academic for the second straight season. The Anderson native started all eight matches for Presbyterian this season and recorded 5 double-doubles before suffering a season-ending injury. In the classroom, Williams boasts a 3.67 GPA as a political science major and an English/pre-law double minor, and is on track to graduate in just three years this May.

Freshman Lucianna Piedra earned a singles victory on Tuesday, but women’s tennis dropped its first league match of the spring by the score of 6-1 at Charleston Southern.

Piedra had a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over the Bucs’ Michelle Schmitz.

Charleston’s Madalina Man squeaked by Zeba Jamal 6-4, 0-6 (10-5) at No. 1 singles.

Presbyterian (5-11, 4-1 Big South) has a quick turnaround as the Blue Hose welcome Campbell to Templeton Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon at 1.

Saturday’s football game against Davidson has been pushed up to an 11 a.m. start due to expected afternoon weather in the Clinton area on Saturday.

Saturday's game will be the final home game of the spring for the Blue Hose as they wrap up the spring schedule on April 17 at Drake with a 2 p.m. (EDT) kickoff.

The baseball team's series with Radford, scheduled to begin on Friday afternoon, has been postponed. The two teams will look to make the series up later on in the season.

The series was postponed due to Radford not being able to meet the minimum squad-size standards established by the Big South Conference this season.

PC is next to be in action on Friday, April 16, at 5 p.m. against Longwood in Farmville, Va., in the opener of a 3-game weekend series.
