The final was almost no contest.
Presbyterian College senior Serina Combs won the Blue Hose Match Play tournament on Monday, defeating top seed Kelli Kragh 5&4 in the championship round at Lakeside Country Club in Laurens.
The victory capped a perfect 3-0 run for Combs during the bracketed portion of the women’s golf team’s fall intrasquad event, which was basically conducted because COVID-19 resulted in the cancellation of all intercollegiate events.
The Lake Worth, Fla., native earned the second seed and a first-round bye for the double-elimination tournament after tying for the best score in the qualifying round. In the second round, Combs defeated No. 3 seed Taylor Gardner 3&2.
The senior then booked her spot in the championship round with a 3&2 victory over the top-seeded Kragh. After Kragh emerged from the consolation bracket, Combs won the rematch as well to claim the title.
