If the Presbyterian College and Big South schedules had a slogan this season, it would be “check that.”
Such are the vagaries of the novel coronavirus.
Originally, the Presbyterian College women’s basketball team was to play at Winthrop on Thursday and Friday. Then those were replaced by Hampton at home. Now the Hampton games have been “postponed.’
The Big South Conference announced on Wednesday evening that the women’s basketball series between Presbyterian College and Hampton, which had been scheduled for Feb. 25-26 in Clinton, has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Hampton program. Makeup dates for the series have not been announced.
The Big South is expected to release the schedule for the final week of the regular season in the coming days. The 2021 Big South Conference Championship is slated to begin on Saturday, March 6.
Head softball coach David Williams announced the cancellation of the program’s 6-game homestand slated for the weekend of Feb. 26-28 due to COVID-19 concerns. The Blue Hose were slated for doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday against Cleveland State, and a Sunday twin bill against South Dakota.
Presbyterian (4-0) is scheduled to return to action with a doubleheader against Western Carolina on Wednesday, Mar. 3, at PC Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
The men’s basketball tournament begins this Saturday. Presbyterian is scheduled to visit Hampton (Va.) at 2 p.m.
