Football at Presbyterian College, otherwise horribly late, is now getting sooner.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, PC football was canceled altogether in the fall of 2020. Now the opener is March 6 as the Blue Hose have added a road game in Boiling Springs, N.C., against Gardner-Webb. The Runnin’ Bulldogs were the last team Presbyterian defeated in the Big South Conference. The Blue Hose won that game on Nov. 9, 2019, by a score of 24-14.

The new opener will be played at 1 p.m. in Boiling Springs’ Spangler Stadium.

“Everyone within our football program is grateful that we have been given an opportunity to compete one more weekend this spring,” said PC head coach Tommy Spangler (no relation to the G-W stadium). “I would like to thank our AD, Rob Acunto, for allowing us this opportunity to play against Gardner-Webb.”

It marks the 13th consecutive season that PC and Gardner-Webb have met.
