Men’s soccer season at Presbyterian College next year will be a streamlined scheduled outlined under the auspices of the Big South Conference.
The format is an 8-match slate with most contests scheduled for Sundays from Feb. 21-April 8. In addition, teams will be permitted to play up to three non-conference/exhibition matches starting Sunday, Feb. 14.
The Big South championship semifinals and finals will be held the week of April 12-18, with those dates to be determined at a later time. The top four teams in the final conference standings will advance to the Big South Men's Soccer Championship, which will be hosted by the higher-seeded team throughout. The champion receives the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Contingencies were built into the schedule to allow flexibility for completing the season in full. Each squad will have a floating mid-week match that will be scheduled during the first half of the season and no later than March 17. Matches scheduled for Sundays can be moved to the previous Friday/Saturday or the following Monday, if necessary.
"We are delighted to announce our 2021 spring schedule,” said 4th-year head coach Jonathan Potter. "We are eager to finally return to competition and to compete for a conference championship this spring. Our team has been hard at work for the past 18 months in preparation for this unique season. To have six opportunities to play at home in Martin Stadium and Edens Field is exciting for our team."
PC kicks off conference play on Sunday, Feb. 28, it hosts Longwood at Martin Stadium. Three days later, the Blue Hose hit the road for a mid-week match against USC Upstate (March 3) before returning home for a game against High Point on March 7.
Presbyterian returns to the field a week later to begin a 3-game road trip to Gardner-Webb on March 14, Campbell on March 21 and Radford on March 28.
The regular season concludes with a pair of home games as the Blue Hose host UNC Asheville on April 3 and Winthrop five days later on April 8.
