In a way, Presbyterian College’s football team isn’t just playing its first home game on Saturday at noon.

When Morehead (Ky.) State takes on the Blue Hose, the PC program begins anew.

Both teams are 0-1. Morehead State is a member of the Pioneer Football League, in which Presbyterian is playing a 6-game spring schedule leading up to full membership in the PFL in the fall.

The Blue Hose and Eagles have never met.

Gardner-Webb, still in the Big South, squeaked by PC in two overtimes, 31-24. At roughly the same time, Morehead State was absorbing a 52-0 thrashing at the hands of the country’s fourth-ranked Football Championship Subdivision team, James Madison.

Presbyterian and Morehead State are FCS schools. They no longer award football scholarships. Gardner-Webb and James Madison hand out 65 apiece.

Presbyterian quarterback Tyler Huff opened the season with the best stat line of his career. He completed a career-high 29 passes in 46 attempts for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also added a score on the ground. The Orange Park, Fla., sophomore’s day was marred by 2 overtime interceptions.
