Gilbert, ranked 6th in Class 3A, is coming to Laurens to play the Raiders on Oct. 30.

The Lexington County school replaces Clinton on the LDHS schedule. The Red Devils must play Region 3-3A opponent Union County on that date. The two were originally to play each other in the season opener, but the Yellow Jackets had to postpone the game due to COVID-19 quarantines.

That left an opening the in the Laurens schedule. Even while winning, 34-6, against Aiken last Friday night, the Raiders were eliminated from playoff contention.

While Clinton is not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, it is likely. In such case, the Red Devils will host the Raiders in the season finale on Nov. 13.

This week Laurens (2-2, 1-2 Region 2-4A) visits Greer, while Clinton (1-2) hosts Woodruff.

Gilbert (4-0) has defeated, in order, Orangeburg-Wilkinson 32-13, Fox Creek 43-0, Brookland-Cayce 56-42 and Strom Thurmond 28-21.

No JV game between the two has yet been scheduled.
