The girls’ golf team got into the win column with with a victory over Greer at Lakeside Country Club. The Raiders scored 232 to the Yellow Jackets’ 240.
“We played our best match of the season on the last day of the regular season,” coach Jim Iacuone said.
The Links at Stoney Point, near Greenwood, is the site of Monday’s Region 2-4A tournament. LDHS’s tee times begin at 10 am.
Against Greer, medalist Anna Gray Rowland shot 45, Bryson Cruickshanks 56, Gracin Gilstrap 64 and Lane McCracken 67.
Greer defeated Laurens (5-4, 3-5 Region 2-4A) in three tough games of volleyball on Thursday at LDHS. The Yellow Jackets won 25-21, 25-20, 28-26.
The Raiders’ final match scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, as Clinton visits. The Raiders won in four games over the Red Devils in Clinton.
Laurens will honors its three seniors: Michaela Smith, Rebekah Smith and Veronica Corteville on its Senior Night. The junior varsity match is at 5:30, followed by the varsity at approximately 7.
The LDHS junior varsity football team rolled to its second victory in three games, thumping Eastside in Taylors, 40-20, on Thursday night.
Nick Fowler passed for two scores and ran for two more. He hit Travija Austin from 20 yards out and connected with Asher Goss on a 22-yarder. Fowler’s rushing scores were on runs of 45 and 9 yards.
Hunter Nabors also threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to K.D. Mosley. Jordan Roberts scored on a 16-yard run to open the scoring.
Hugo Avila hit 4 of 6 conversion kicks.
Whitmire defeated Gray Court-Owings, 16-14. Jireh Brown and Damien Nance scored the GC-O touchdowns.
The Ware Shoals at Hickory Tavern game was postponed by COVID-19 concerns in Ware Shoals.
