Greenville broke Laurens’ hearts with a 2-1, walk-off Region 2-4A baseball win over the Raiders.

Laurens broke up a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning on Thomas Willis’s RBI double, driving Parker Wasson home.

The Red Raiders stole the game with 2-out, clutch hitting in the bottom of the seventh.

A single, a walk and a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with two out. On a full count, Greenville’s Taylor Rabe doubled, driving in the tying and winning runs.

The news was better on the softball diamond, where Laurens put Greenville away, 13-5.

The Red Raiders took a short-lived lead with 3 runs in the top of the first inning, but Laurens (2-5, 1-0 region) put 5 runs on the board in the bottom half and scored at least once in each of the remaining frames.

Laurens collected 12 hits, but it didn’t hurt that Greenville committed 10 errors.

Bri Posey swung the big bat, going 4-for-4 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI.

Peyton Herring was the winning pitcher in relief of Alyssa Rowe.

Greenville won the golf matchup between the two schools, putting up a team score of 171 to Laurens’ 195.

Scoring for the Raiders were Collin Harlan 44, Preston Mahon 45, Jason Rogers 52 and Trevor Kitts Miller 54.


Laurens overwhelmed Liberty in boys’ soccer by a score of 10-2, with Jose Roberto Luna scoring 5 goals and deliverin 3 assists. Levi Perry had 3 goals and 3 assists. Eric Velasquez had a goal and an assist. Laurens is 5-6-2.
