The Red Raiders of Greenville took the measure of the ones wearing green in Laurens, winning the Region 2-4A boys’ soccer match between the two by a score of 4-1.
Hadden Martin assisted Roberto Luna for the LDHS goal.
The Raiders also fell to Greenwood by a score of 10-0 in the first region game.
Greenville also won Monday’s girls’ game by a score of 6-0.
Golf coach Jim Iacuone was pleased with the improvement of his team after the Raiders finished in the middle of a 3-way match with Eastside (174) and Greer (209). Laurens scored 192 at Holly Tree in Simpsonville.
Scoring for Laurens were Collin Harlan 41, Jason Rogers 48, Preston Mahon 47 and Caleb Letson 56.
“We played better on a more difficult golf course,” Iacuone said.
The Raiders face Greenville at Lakeside Country Club on Tuesday.
Greenwood took a 169-207 victory over Laurens.
The Raider scorers were Collin Harlan 45, Jason Rogers 52, Preston Mahon 51 and Gage Sailers 59.
Landon Trevino and Zay Pulley had 2 hits each in the Laurens C team’s 9-8 victory at home over Ware Shoals on Monday. Trevino drove in runs with both hits, and Preston Dixon had a triple.
The Hornets led 4-1 early, but LDHS scored 2 in the third inning, 2 in the fourth and 2 in the fifth. Ware Shoals bounced back with 4 2-out runs in the sixth. A bases-loaded walk gave Laurens its margin of victory.
